Luca Quinn- Week 2

2 weeks old

Luca is 2 weeks old today! Time always flies by. Life as a quarantine baby is very chill. He hasn’t left our apartment in the two weeks of his life except to go to the pediatrician. Here’s a little glimpse into his life currently:

Eating

Luca nurses well and eats about every 2.5-3 hours. I am so grateful he is a good eater, because we struggled so much those first couple of months with Jackson. Each feeding with Jackson would take at least an hour to attempt to nurse, pump, and bottle feed, which was so exhausting. So being able to just nurse Luca easily and relatively quick has been a huge answered prayer, especially as we’ve been without help.

Sleeping

Luca sleeps well overall. He is still an incredibly sleepy baby, spending most of his days asleep. During the day, he still sleeps in the living room, so we can be near him. It’s amazing the chaos they are able to sleep through! The nights are pretty good. Right now, I feed Luca around 10:30 and then go to bed, while Ron keeps him in the living room with him until 1:30. That stretch is usually his worst, but even at that, it just means he fusses and grunts in the bassinet and usually ends up snuggled up in Ron’s arms. From there, he does pretty good, usually just waking to eat and then going right back to sleep.

Waketime

Luca isn’t awake often, but when he is, it’s usually for a solid hour or so haha. When he’s awake, he loves to be held, and usually gets passed around between all of the siblings. Luca rarely ever cries and overall is just a content, happy little guy.

While being quarantined has certainly been far from ideal, I’ve been trying to see some of the positives in all of this. One big plus is not having to wake up early and get kids off to school while being exhausted and sleep deprived. We’re free to sleep in and just take things slow each morning with Luca!

Our latest trip to the pediatrician was a good report, Luca gained his birth weight back and a little extra; he’s now 7 lbs 2 oz. His jaundice is also fading, so that’s good!

Luca, you have brought us so much joy in these last two weeks! I am trying to soak up all the snuggles I can with you, wishing I could slow time down, because this stage is so fleeting!

Here are some pictures from this week, including the gorgeous newborn + family photos that Ron took!
