Luca Quinn- Week 27
Luca is 27 weeks old!
This week he had his 6 month check up; he is now 15 lbs and 25 inches. He has definitely slowed way down on the weight gain, but still a healthy little guy!
We started solids with Luca this week as well! While I absolutely love Baby Led Weaning, I’ve learned that it is not for every baby, particularly if that child is developmentally delayed. (Parenting 4 very different children will certainly open your eyes that there is no one right way to parent a child!) So with Luca, we are going the pureed route. So far he is tolerating them really well and he’s liked everything he has tried!
Continuing on the developmentally delayed thing, Luca is following a similar path of Jackson. We started noticing some things were off a couple of months ago, and I think we are hyper-aware of these sorts of things after walking through this with J. Because we had such an atrocious time getting Jackson started with any therapy, and he lost 6 months of crucial help, we have been incredibly proactive with Luca. We referred him to California’s program, and as we expected he qualified for an array of services. This past week was his first week starting therapy! He did really well with it all, but boy is it tiring for these little guys! Luca and Jackson share several therapists, and so we’re getting to know our new therapists real quick!
We are optimistic that with Luca getting about a 6 month head start on therapy over Jackson, that he will catch up rather quickly. This time around, I feel pretty confident that all will be well, so I’m grateful for that. But it is a little heavy to be going through this all again, and our schedules are incredibly full.
We love our little Puka Shell, and every day with him is such a joy! We are excited to see all the new things he will start doing now that he has a bit of help :)
