Jackson Graham- Week 3

3 Weeks Old

Jackson is 3 weeks old today! Ron went back to work this week and so it was my first week on my own with all three kids! It’s been a very smooth transition though. Going from 1 to 2 kids was definitely harder haha. It is taking some time to adjust to the amount of time it takes to get out the door now though! Also, I definitely overestimated the amount of down time I would have while on maternity leave haha. I had grand ideas of what I would do with that time, like nap…not happening though! The days are truly flying by, as it feels like things are just nonstop until 8pm! Hopefully as Jackson gets better and more efficient at eating, this will ease up a bit.

On that note, I took Jackson to the doctor on Monday, and he is now 6 lbs 5 oz! He gained 10 ounces in a week, woohoo! So now that he’s growing well, we have started the process of weaning him off the bottle.

Also, this week, poor Jackson got really bad baby acne all over his face. The doctor gave us some creams to help with it, and thankfully it is now starting to disappear! Poor guy!

Eating

We are so grateful that Jackson is gaining weight well! Right now he does 4 feedings of breastfeeding and bottle and 4 feedings just on me. He is still a very sleepy baby and it’s hard to keep him awake long enough to eat sufficiently on me. The transition off the bottle is not the easiest thing, but I am thankful for the little bits of progress we’re making! I’ve said many times, if he was my first child, he would have been on formula 2 weeks ago!!

Sleeping

Jackson is a rockstar daytime sleeper; he has no problem falling asleep in the bassinet, crib, stroller, carrier, arms, with or without paci. Nighttime is not the same case! The second I lay him down in his bassinet for the night’s sleep, he immediately starts fussing and grunting, always needing his paci. This happens for good chunks of the night, leaving this momma quite tired! (but so grateful for the middle of the night snuggles!)

Wake time

What wake time? Haha. Just kidding, but I am still amazed at how sleepy this little guy is. He now has maybe 2-3 wake times during the day, usually for 15-30 minutes. I’m soaking up all the snuggles for sure!

Out and about!
