Alynne Tiffany- 14 months

The alygator is 14 months old today! Here is what happened this month:

14 months old

-We said goodbye to the bottles.  We tried to slowly wean off of them all of last month with no success, so we decided to go cold turkey.  Alynne was not happy about that at all.  For almost a week she refused to drink any milk from her straw cups.  She is a stubborn thing (wonder where she gets that from).  She eventually started drinking it in the mornings, and now a month later, she is happily drinking her milk again, and cold at that! With the next baby, I will definitely be introducing milk in a cup a lot sooner!!

-Alynne blinks to sign "I love you." I think she actually started doing this back in November, but I keep forgetting to mention it.  And what I mean by this is that one day when Alynne had learned to purposely blink (which was super cute), I was practicing it with her and just started telling her I loved her as I did it, and thus we made up our own sign for it.  So now, whenever I tell her that I love her, she blinks back at me, and it warms my heart! I love how sweet and silly she is!

-Speaking of sweet, she also loves giving kisses to anyone and everyone--both big sloppy kisses and air blown kisses!

-One night when Ron was out for the evening, Aly was having a hard time going down, so I went in and picked her and she craned her head around me to look in the living room for Papi, grinning from ear to ear, and when she didn't see him, she tried to look over at his desk for him, and when she realized he wasn't home, her face just fell and she laid her head down on my shoulder.  It was so sad and sweet at the same time! She sure does love Ron!!

-This year was our first Christmas just us.  We had a normal quiet morning spent at home (we still don't get Aly any presents), and then we spent the rest of the day at our good friends the Williams!  Alynne loved getting to play with Emma and her friend!

-Alynne loves to pretend sleep.  We say "go to sleep," and she lays down on the floor pretending to sleep, and then she pops up when we say "now wake up!"

-Sleep has been crazy this month.  Being on two naps means she wakes up pretty late from her second nap, but at the same time, she's not quite ready for one nap every day.  So with that being said, almost the entire month she has had a very difficult time going to sleep at night.  By difficult, I just mean that she's awake for a long time in her crib.  She never cries, just plays and babbles, but for like 1.5-2 hours before finally falling asleep.  Since she's not really worked up, we haven't been too bothered by it, but we may attempt to move to one nap this month and see if it helps her nighttime sleep any.

-At the beginning of this month, she was also waking up in the middle of the night several nights in a row.  With her teething so hard the month before, we had of course comforted her a lot and brought her to bed a few times.  So when that passed, she continued to wake up at 3 or 4am wanting to crawl into our bed.    In the end we had to let her CIO a bit, and then in a couple days, it was all back to normal.  Honestly, I had forgotten all about that until just now haha.

-Alynne loves giving high 5's!  Sometimes she even pries my hand open just to give me one.

-She loves to give us pretend things.  She will pick invisible things off of the ground or her clothes and then hand them to us.  All day long.

-This month she pooped in the tub for the first time.  I guess we should be thankful we made it 14 months before that happened.

-Alynne reallllllly loves being chased.  She loves for her friends to chase her and of course, when Mami and Papi chase her.  She just circles our ottoman and squeals with delight as we chase her around.

-Alynne is becoming a bit of a girly girl (which I love!).  She carries her baby doll everywhere with her, and she always has on her bracelets.

-Alynne has started this new thing at dinner time where she hands me her plate after she is finished eating as opposed to throwing it on the floor.  It's pretty great.

-This month the tantrums have started.  They are small, but they are definitely there.  If I take something away from her, she throws herself on the ground crying.  Hello toddlerhood!

-She loves the bathtub faucet.  She is very fascinated with the water pouring out of it and loves to feel it.

-Aly is starting to know some body parts.  She can point out eyes, ears, and mouth on her baby doll.  She still confuses "belly" with "baby," because whenever I ask her where her belly is, she brings me her baby doll. =]

-Alynne now brings me books to read every day (all day long).  It is usually the same books over and over again.  Currently her favorites are: The Foot Book, Disney: Let's Count, Tickle Time, Are You a Cow, Tenemos un Bebe, and Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day.

-A few days before Aly turned 14 months, we moved!!! This has been a long journey (which I will hopefully get around to blogging about soon), and we were so excited.  It was an exhausting weekend made possible by so many wonderful friends and family!  Aly loves all the new space to explore and walk around in!

-Finally, this weekend Aly did again.  She slept almost 36 hours straight.  She had been fighting off a cold all weekend and also possibly teething, and I guess when she doesn't feel well, she just decides to sleep it all off! I woke her up Sunday morning and she took a sip of milk and fell right back asleep for an hour in bed with me, and then I transferred her back to her crib where she slept til 6 (while I checked on her every hour), and then she stayed awake barely two hours before going back down for her usual night of 12 hours.  It is seriously so crazy that she does this!!
