Alynne Tiffany- 2 Years

2 Years Old

My dearest Alynne,

Gosh, where do I even begin?! This year has been a whirlwind!  In just one short year, you went from crawling to running and from babbling to speaking full sentences.  You are getting SO big.  I love watching you grow and seeing your personality grow.  This year, 3 things about you have really stuck out to me--you're super sweet, silly, and smart!

First, you are incredibly sweet.  You have such a caring heart for others and are very considerate of other's feelings.  There have been several times where I have been crying, and you have stopped what you're doing to give me a hug and wipe my tears away.  I also remember one time, we bumped heads on the bus and you quickly asked me if I was okay and began to rub my head while saying "awww, it's okay Mami!"  While you are super sweet, you like to playfully withhold your hugs and kisses from us when we ask!  But if Papi tells you he's sad, you'll run and give him a hug! Now that your little brother Fynn is here, I see your sweetness come out even more.  You adore your brother and always want to make sure he's okay.  You sing to him, shower him with kisses, and even share Ellie with him!  And if Fynn let's out the tiniest cry, you say, "Mami, check on Fynn!!"

Second, you are oh so silly!  This is one of my favorite things about you.  You have such a sense of humor now.  You love to make us laugh by being as silly as possible, and then you say "Aly so funny!" You also do little things that you think are so funny, like putting a red bear in the yellow bear sorting cup.  You'll do it with a sly grin on your face, see if I notice, and then burst into giggles and put it in the correct cup.  I love laughing with you all day long.

Finally, you are incredibly smart! You know all of your upper case letters, about half of your lower case letters, you can count to 20, and you know all of your shapes.  I am always amazed at how quickly you pick things up.  You internalize everything I say these days and love to learn about new things each month in Tot School.  We think you're quite brilliant, and we're so proud of you!

I could go on and on about how much we love and adore everything about you, Alynne!  But I will leave my letter to you at that!  It's been such an amazing year with you, and I can't wait to see what this year holds for you!

(Below is a quick update of things that happened this month!)

-The biggest thing that happened this month is that you became a big sister!! You have been an amazing big sister too.  When you met him in the hospital, you were a bit shy with him, but I think you just really missed me. By the time we brought him home, you were so smitten with him.  You wanted to hold him the whole time and didn't want anyone else to hold him!

-You spent a lot of time with Gigi and Bop while I was healing and taking care of Fynn. You loved all of the extra attention and the daily smoothies ;)

-One time Fynn was crying, and so you ran and grabbed his paci and then dropped it on top of him in his bassinet haha.  You had the right idea ;)

-You dressed up as Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's for Halloween this year.  You absolutely loved your tutu and getting to play dress up!  We went to a costume party one weekend, where you got to play with all of your friends, and the next weekend you went trick-or-treating with Papi, Gigi, and Bop down on the UWS.

-One time you told Gigi you had pooped, but then she checked and you hadn't, to which you laughed and said "Aly funnnnny!"

-I love the silly phrases you say.  You call tacos "big nachos" and asked Papi very seriously to get you "more big nachos"

-You also started saying "thank you much" which then carried over to you also saying "here you go much" LOL

-You call the Itsy Bitsy Spider "Ips Star" ..."Mami sing Ips Star?"

A few big sister stories...

-You love to sit and talk to Fynn while he's in his bouncer.  If he loses his pacifier, you give it back to him.  You also love to help me get him ready for a nap.  You "help" carry him to his bassinet, turn the sound machine on for me, and then sing Jesus Loves Me to him.  You melt my heart!

-A couple days ago, I decided to give you a bath after I put Fynn down.  I barely got you washed when Fynn woke up early crying.  You usually love to take long baths and play for awhile, but when I told you bath time had to be over early because I needed to check on Fynn, you looked at your toys and thought for a second and then said "Okay Mami!" So I then grabbed you and your clothes and we came into the living room to finish getting ready.  I popped Fynn's paci in his mouth real quick, but he continued to cry so I was just hurrying to get you ready.  You were laying there sans diaper still and said very concerned, "Mami check on Fynn!"  So I asked you if you would stay put while I did, and you agreed so I went and took care of Fynn for a few minutes and when I came back, you were still patiently waiting for me!  You are so incredible with your brother and don't seem to mind sharing me with him! I am amazed by your abounding graciousness through this whole transition, and I try to remember to be gracious with you too when you do have hard moments!

-Finally, today we celebrated your birthday with "special birthday pancakes" (pancakes with sprinkles!), a couple playdates with your closest friends (J.D. and Galilee!), 5 Guys for dinner (yum!), flowers from Papi, and opening a few presents!  It has been a wonderful day!  On Sunday, we will have a small party for you to celebrate with all of your friends!

Love you to the moon and back sweet girl!!
